What are the steps to follow when you want to make an incoming test call using finesse 11.6?

What do you mean by test call to Finesse.

You can just call into a queue and take the call

I want to make a system generated incoming call via finesse workflows/call variables, whereby the system generated incoming call should automatically pop up at the agent finesse desktop, is this possible???

What system is making this call?
Why would it not work?
If it is just an incoming call, it doesn't matter WHO makes the call, correct?
The call would ring the agent, and the agent would answer, like any other call.

I think we need a little more detail. Like you're looking to have agent/system A use Finesse to generate a call to agent B on Finesse or something?

I want to generate an incoming call via an API to an agent logged into finesse desktop

So you don't really need an API for that. You didn't mention what system you have (UCCE/PCCE vs UCCX), but you could set up the dialer/outbound option to do the test call for you and deliver it to your queue of Finesse agents.

There's something here you can use to throw calls automatically at your CCE or CCX.
