Installing UCCX 9.0.1 on Laptop using VMWare Workstation 8

Hi,

I am trying to setup a UCCX 9.0.1 ISO Image on my VMWare workstation 8.0 installed on my laptop.

The laptop config is Intel I7 1.7 GHz Processor with 8GB RAM.

I allocated 2GB RAM to this VM and 4 Processors in the VM settings.

However when I run the ISO image after passing the hardware tests, it halts and does not proceed with the Installation.

I use RedHat Linux 5 32 Bit as the ISO image.

I already have a CUCM 7.0 installed on the same laptop and VMWare workstation.

Any help will be appreciated as its my first time on Cisco UCCX.

do you see an error message, perhaps?

Did you allocate enough disk space? I usually allocate at least 120 GB for UCCX.

Hi,

I tried to increase the hard disk to 120 GB, however I am still getting this error message "This software configuration does not support this hardware. Your installation will now halt".

I am not sure why this is happening.

Just to let you know, the installation console shows "Cisco Unified Communications 9.0" in the top banner display. Is this OK?

Do i need to use ESXI server or my VMWare workstation 8 should be fine.

Hi,

well, to be honest, I meant 120 GB on a VMWare ESXi.

I guess the UCCX installer somehow detects it is not ESX(i) and halts the installation.

Ok, any ideas then which version can be installed on VMWare workstation and integrated with CUCM 7?

Check out the UCCX compatibility matrix. Use the search function within the Documentation section at cisco.com.

Even if you are able to install it, I doubt it won't fail like every five mimutes. For a CUCM + UCCX combo you dont use a notebook computer.

Can you try this:

Edit the settings of your CCX virtual machine.

Go to Process and try setting the process manually to Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI.

Then tick the 2 boxes.

✔ Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI.
✔ Virtualize CPU Performance counters.

Then go to where you saved your .vmx and open with notepad.

Try adding the following on the last line of the file:

hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = “FALSE”

I know this is an old thread, but for any one who lands here. Up the memory to 4GB or (4096MB). I just turned this up in my lab using the OVA template in ESXi and the lowest setting took 4GB Mem, 2 vCPU's and a 146GB Hard Drive. I believe, like most other UC VM's, after the install is complete, you can power it down, and lower the Mem to 2GB. But for the initial hardware test, it wants to see the correct amount.
