UCCX Hostname Requirement

Hello Guys,

We are planning for UCCX upgrade from 9.0.2 to 11.6.1.

Hostname of both the UCCX-9.0.2 nodes in cluster is in upper case [ for e.g. UCCX-ONE & UCCX-TWO ]

DNS resolution is also there against these host name on DNS Server.

Is it necessary to have host name in lower case [ for e.g. uccx-one & uccx-two ] while upgrading UCCX.

Yes and no.  The installation guide tells you the requirements, which one of is all lower case letters, but I have done upgrades to 11.x with upper case letters, and then renamed the server after the fact.  In some cases, I have servers still using upper case on 11.x too.

Now, I'm not saying ignore the documentation, you should make it lower case, but feel free to use my experiences with naming, as consideration for when you perform your rename activity.

Reference:

"Hostname must be in lower case and the character limit is 24 characters. "

Hi there

yes, go with the recommendation of using lower case as there are cases related certificate issues while using CAPS / Mixed Hostnames

Hope this Helps

Cheers
Rath!
