nexus1000v interface duplex 'half' troubleshooting

Hi All,

Just been doing some more 1000v implementing, and currently build a port-channel with 2 interfaces, but for some reason the duplex its picking up is 'half' and I have tried to set it manually in the nexus1kv side, and I get the following message:

testsw01v(config)# int po5

testsw01v(config-if)# duplex full

ERROR: port-channel5: Incompatible Speed and Duplex settings on interface

I've tried to play around on the vCentre as well to manually set the duplex to full on the vmnics but it doesn't change the settings either.

Also we are using a HP Blade Chassis and Virtual Connect/Flexnic10 for the networking from the host perspective.

Cheers,

Rob

Rob,

This is a known issue with FlexNIC & Virtual connect.  Since the 1000v only recognizes standard NIC speeds (100MB/1G/10G etc), if you set it to a non-standard value this is expected behavior.  This is ONLY a cosmetic issue - there is NO speed or performance impact.  If you run an ifconfig from the ESX CLI, you should see the speed and duplex settings properly displayed.

You can also verify the correct operation by running esxcfg-nics -l.

This is tracked under bug CSCto57284

Regards,

Robert
