so u mean to say on one side with cvr-qsfp-sfp10G adapter with SFP-10G-SR into it, and on the another end on 6509 with Cisco X2-10GB-SR , does the link will come up, there will be no compatibility issue between X2 on 6509 and SFP-10G-SR on Nexus.

Yes that would work

The breakout cable is maximum of 5M so this mean it can work within or between the rack and it is one piece with sfp's , so this will not work with my 6509 switch which is far from the Nexus rack

I think you get a 10M breakout cable also but with breakout cable one end you have 40G QSFP and other end you have four 10G SFP+
QSFP-4X10G-AOC (1M, 2M, 3M, 5M, 7M, 10M) : QSFP to four SFP+ active optical breakout cables

You would need a breakout QSFP or cable on the Nexus 93180 40G port.
The breakout QSFP....converts the 40G to 4 X 10G

Dear

I already have a QSFP-40G-SR-BD it is LC connector so how the breakout cable will work on top of it, if I want to use a breakout cable then i have to use a adapter to convert otherwise in LC connection it will not be possible please correct me if i m wrong ???

so i think for QSFP-40G-SR-BD connection it should connect with only 40 gig interface.

thanks

With QSFP-40G-SR-BD you can only connect to another 40G port

for eg : Nexus 9K -40GPort--QSFP-40G-SR-BD=====LC-LC patch cord====QSFP-40G-SR-BD---Nexus 9K -40GPort

So for breakout you may have to use a breakout cable (QSFP-4X10G-AOC5M)

Dear Nazim

As per the datasheet the uplink port for N9K-C93180YC can work as an 10 GIG, 40GIG, 25 GIG, and 100G, so if i  reduced the speed to 10G for the uplink port then i can connect to 6509 X2 10GIG port,

Please correct me if i m wrong.

Thanks

That's correct the Nexus port speed supports but the QSFP-40G-SR-BD only supports 40G. For 10G connectivity you can use a breakout QSFP, QSFP adapter (converts 40G to 10G) or QSFP breakout cable.

Dear Nazim

Thanks for your reply
