On the documentation for the Cisco 6800 series KEM documentation, there is a clear, unambiguous statement declaring that it does not support SIP registrations being assigned to its Programmable Line Keys. see here (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/ip-phone-6800-series-multiplatform-firmware/datasheet-c78-739946.html#CiscoIPPhone6800KeyExpansionModuleproductoverview"
"The KEM supports the Programmable Line Key (PLK) function, but does not support any SIP registrations."
However, on the 8800 series KEM documentation it's not quite as clear. Can anyone confirm or deny if the 8800 series devices should have the same limitation?

Hi there,
Correct, KEMs do not support SIP line registrations, only PLK functions. This includes 88XX series as well.
If you're looking for a phone with more line registrations, please take a look at 7861.
Thanks
