8.5 Unity Connection UM tweaks

Running 8.5.1ES16.11900-16 unified Messaging with MS Exchange 2010. I knew how to tweak these settings in the Unity UM on the Windows version but at a loss here.

1. When I recieve a message from an unidentified caller it shows "From: Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System [mailto:unityconnection@ucxn01]".  I would like to change that to something more simple of meaningful to the users like "From: Voicemail"  Where can I change this?

2. When I recieve a message from an internal known caller it shows "From:userX@ucxn01" instead of userX@company.com.  So I can't reply to a Voicemail via email because it is using the the @HostnameofUnityConnection instead of the Corporate or Specified SMTP address.

Anyone know how to change either of these?

Shane

Rob, unfortunately all I can say is I do not have a good answer for you.

Otherwise really great workaround info everyone!  I will have to give all this a try in the lab.

Mark are you sure that approach really works?  We have Exchange 2010 at a customer site, and I was just asked to see if I can figure out how to modify the from address for messages sent from Unity Connection.  And you are sure that is all there is to the process?  Nothing else needs to be done in Unity Connection, etc?  Let me know.  Thank you.

Yes, that was done in production and that's all there was to the process.  Pretty simple fix if you don't mind a dummy account sitting out there.

Hi, If you are forwarding your calls thru offnet to a Cell Phone, can you receive the VM message on your Cell Phone and also receive an email with the VM message? The email could be the work email and/or a person email such as a  gmail or yahoo email.

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Nancy

You can't change it from the Unity side - the message is sent from that account (required to have a sender in Exchange land). You can change the display name for that user (which is created with the server name by default). Just don't delete the account (it'll get recreated on the fly). But you can change the display name to remove the server name from it and the "from" field for messages from outside callers will no longer show the server name.
