9971 HHC Support

Does the 9971 support HHC control through the headset port like the high end 7900 series phones? Client has just purchased alot of 9971 phones and alot of high end Jabra PRO headsets to go with, but need to find some way of getting these to work so they can answer calls with the button on the headset without having to have one of the ugly handset lifters. They use the headset with PC too for Skype Video chats.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Christopher,

which Headset from JABRA does the customer use? You need a headset with USB support.

regards,

Marcel Ammann

Its the Jabra PRO 9470. The headset supports softphone, mobile and headset support. The usb in the back of the headset is used to connect to a Mac (which works well with Skype). At the moment, I have got around it by pairing over bluetooth, but this means the client can't pair with mobile phone as well. I find it hard to believe that Cisco doesn't support some sort of electronic headset lifter through the headset port on its highest end phones.....

Hello,

if  you connect the headset via bluetooth, does it work?

I'm not sure but if you connect a normal headset with a mobile, you can't connect to a second mobile?! I think that is not a problem of the phone, but rather a problem of the headset.

Kind regards,

Marcel

Hi Christopher,

Just to add a note to the good tips from Marcel (+5"M")

The 9971 does support HHC and Plantronics has come out with a new

cable adaptor kit that supports the 9971. I haven't seen one from Jabra yet but of

course Jabra does support HHC on 3rd Gen 7900 series phones so I would expect

that a similar part is in the offing

Hello Rob,

thank you for the good information!

regards,

Marcel

One of our customer who has 9951 phone is trying to use Savi WO200 USB headset, he got the Plantronics APU-70 with Hookswitch cable but still not able to use the headset.

Even in Platronics website is recommending to do the following setup but we couldn't find these on the new 9951 phones , we were able to see this setting only on SCCP phones

The phone must be set for “Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control” = Enabled

Press the settings button on the phone (Checkbox Icon). Select “Device Configuration” >> Select “Media Configuration”

If “Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control” is “Disabled”, contact your telephone administrator.

Do we need to do this on the new phones ? if we do where is this setting in CUCM it is not on the phone page?

We even called Plantronics tech support but as expected they blamed it on the Call Manager , please help us.

Thanks

Hello Christopher,

you need Jabra LINK 14201-30

but there will be another trouble - you cannot use Unified IP Color Key Expansion Module

- the USB port on the CP-9971 is used for  Jabra LINK 14201-30.

So I decided to connect Jabra Pro 9470 to my CP-9971 only by BT, works well,

no mobile phone

Hi!

I own 9951 phone, with one expansion module (CP-CKEM-C).

I also have Jabra PRO 930 hooked up via USB cable to 9951. It is connected to USB port of CP-CKEM-C!!!

Jabra PRO 930 Works perfectly fine with Jabber for Windows and 9951 Phone itself.

Very good setup, no complaints. But it doesn't have cell phone support, which I'd like to have.

Right now I am planning further deployment in our office, and came up with:

- 9971

- CP-CKEM-C

- Jabra 9470 or 6470

- Jabra LINK 14201-30

You had me embarassed by saying that CP-CKEM-C won't work with Jabra 9470 and Jabra LINK 14201-30.

Have you checked it?

Have you used USB port on CP-CKEM-C for connecting Jabra LINK to Jabra 9470?
