9971 keeps rebooting unable to register or even get an ip

Hi,

i have this phone 9971 that i am trying to register as sip phone but the phone does not completes its bootup process,

it keeps rebooting on and on. I tried doing factory reset using # and 123456789*0# but the lights are not flashing when i press #.

Does anyone know how to reset it. All the phones are working and getting the proper ip its just the 9971 giving problem.

I already have the phone loads on cme.

Factory resets on the 89XX/99XX phones are typically done from the settings menu:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/9971_9951_8961/7_1_3/english/admin/guide/9971trb.html#wp1065790.  If you are not able to get in to that, I would look at a packet capture to see if the phone is even sending out a DHCP Discover or any CDP frames.

Could u pls suggest how do i do the packet capture when my phone is plugged into the switch as i do not have external power source

Hellllloooooooooo,

Anybody out there to help me.....

I am still facing the problem with my 9971 phone i can see that it is sending the ip request as i can see from show dhcp binding command in the router.

But the phone just keeps restarting.

Can you send a

debug tftp events and a sh run of your router

Hello,

If we assume that you have setup the SIP phone registration correctly on the CME you should look on the switch if it is CIsco switch what is the ip address of the phone, whether it is getting the correct ip address and tftp and if it is in the proper vlan. You may check this in the CDP neighbors of the switch. If the switch is using smartports the port of the phone should be in ipphone+desktop mode. If not just make sure that the port is in the proper voice vlan.

HTH,
