Activation Code for Cisco CP7811

Hello,

So we got some 7811 to replace our old phones that are not supported for the cisco cloud solution. We have the device pack installed and ready to go. We successfully added the device with MAC with the correct device type however when the phone boots up its asking for an activation code?

I did notice that the device type 7811 under device defaults show up under "Dual Bank Information". The device default firmware is set to: sip78xx.14-2-1-0101-26. I was trying to find out some documentation on why that is nothing really helpful out there. The version of cucm we are on is 11.5.1.x

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Your phones probably don't get a TFTP from the DHCP. Have you checked that? Further, the phones (all SIP phones in CUCM) need to have a DN configured, otherwise it won't register at all.
By the way, there are so many post about the topic of "activation codes", maybe you check them out first.

I did look at other forums however I can not find the tftp status anywhere on this phone. I went to the webgui and terminal. Nothing. Our other phones for instance 7841 sees the tftp server fine both servers 1 and 2. This is on the same dhcp pool. I did however see this on the provisioning line

Provisioning Status 1:    [252][10/22/2023 22:51:12][https://10.xx.xx.xx.xx:443/*]Resync Failed. Reason: Error - Certificate error
Provisioning Status 2:    [251][10/22/2023 22:51:11][https://10.xx.xx.xx.xx:443/*]Resync Failed. Reason: Error - Certificate error
Provisioning Status 3:    [250][10/22/2023 22:51:10][http://10.xx.xx.xx:80/Cisco/CP-7811-3PCC/4891d53f5541.cfg]Resync Failed. Reason: Error - File not found

But why is it saying "3PCC" in the status 3?
Are you using a MPP phone on CUCM? Your OP is not very clear what system you are using too...
Are you using an "enterprise" phone with CUCM? Because you also write something about cloud.

We do plan on moving to the cloud. The vendor we use is aware of this but we are trying to migrate our old non-cloud supported phones to these. The load file on this phone SIP78xx.11-3-1MSR3-3.loads CP-7811-3PCCC.

We are using Cisco Unity Call Manager at the moment with 11.5.1

You cannot use the MPP (3PCC) phones on CUCM per default. You need Enterprise phones (the ones without the -"3PCC" in the part number) or you need to convert the MPP phones to Enterprise phones.

I was just looking at this: Conversion of Enterprise Phones to MPP or Vice-Versa - Cisco, so i think i know what i need to do. However can you advise me on what this means?"MPP Phone Models Available for a One-Time Conversion to a Cisco Unified IP Phone"

When we go to cloud will they work? I dont know if it means one-time because of license or its hard locked after converting.

If you would go then to the cloud, you need MPP phones again. Enterprise phones only work with CUCM. For every other PBX, you need MPP phones.

I don't know about this "one-time" conversion, but I wouldn't risk it.

With Webex calling  subscription you can convert Enterprise phone version to MPP without any license. But Im not sure with this entitlement you can  convert MPP phones  back to Enterprise versions

The conversion process link which you share need a License for conversion.  The best option is to reach out to the partner who sold this phones and request them to change the phones to  enterprise version and when you subscribe for Webex calling move the enterprise phones to MPP following the below guide.
