Ok guys, so I got this AIM-CUE module on eBay for my CCNA Voice lab and it already included a 50 mailbox license, running Unity Express 7.0
Because of a compatibility issue with the rest of my setup I decided to upgrade CUE to version 7.4 and I made a backup but, I guess I forgot to backup/upgrade (don't even know the terminology) my license file so now I have a useless AIM-CUE module.
How can I go around solving this issue?

Hi Lorenzo,
You can get in touch with the vendor to provide the licenses for 7.4 or get the module changed .

@Amansol: Thanks for that link, I talked to the vendor and he had a backup of a license file for CUE 7.0, which was the version it originally had. So in the link provided I see they talk about upgrading the license to other version of CUE but does that only work from CUE 7.1 and on?
Thanks,
Lorenzo.

@Hermanus: Yeah, I did miss backing up my license file, yikes!

Hi Lorenzo,
What I have understood from the DOCS that since you are running CUE version 7.1 , it is on CSL [Cisco Software license] which was introuduced from this version.
Beginning with Cisco Unity Express 7.1, a new type of license called CSL licensing is supported. With CSL licenses, the mailbox license count includes both personal mailboxes and GDMs. The type of the mailbox is determined when it is configured. Also, the call-agent is no longer specified using licenses and can be configured either as part of post-install process or during bootup.
You can buy CSL licences for the following types of features:
•Mailboxes
•Ports
•IVR
•TimeCardView
As an example, if you purchase CSL licenses for 4 IVR sessions, 10 ports, and 265 mailboxes, then you can use 6 ports for either the Auto-Attendant or voice mail, and 4 ports for IVR.

Further , if u upgarde to version 7.4 then, u can do that provided licensed features remain same[that are in 7.1]
this is what is understanding. If anybody has more clarity, please share.

AIM-CUE with 7.1 and higher use a PAK license, if I am correct.
7.0 uses a license you can download from Cisco
7.1 and higher use a license that is bound to the SN and product code

Hi JH,
For AIM-CUE, migration from 7.1 or later, u require PAK and UDI[unique device identifier].
