Hi,
I am reading about the above two modules, couldn't come across any document which says PVDMs are required for functioning of above two modules. Per my understanding its not required. Can any one confirm please? My target routers are 2811/3845 and 3945 and I would prefer to use HWIC slots.
Thanks,

Yes you need PVDM/DSP resources to connect to the PSTN, regardless of what module you choose.
If you use only SIP for making/recieving external calls you do not need PVDM/DSP

Oh - and you won't find reference to using PVDMs with a HWIC-4T1/E1, because a HWIC-4T1/E1 is NOT a voice card; you cannot use it for voice connections. HWIC=HighSpeed WAN Interface Card, VWIC= Voice/Wan Interface Card.
