Bulk updating Busy Lamp Field Speed Dial

Hello,

Is it possible to bulk update Busy Lamp Field Speed Dial button layout on a number of phones already registered in CUCM?

Phones are 7931 UCM version 8.6(2).

I have set the layout i need in a BAT phone template, but i don't see a way to use it for updating already registered phones. It is used only when registering new phones thru BAT.

In BAT -> update phones -> query there's an option "Add all speed dials from this template", but this does not affect the BLF buttons, only the speed dials.

So is there a way?

It is a lot of manual work to update 50 phones x 24 buttons with the shitty interface and the upside-down logic.

The only solution I've found is to export all phones with BAT, delete them all, then import them again using the phone template with the new layout. This works but is very dirty and i need to associate again all phones with the end users which is again clicking.

Hi,

To update BLF Speed Dials for existing Phones you will need to do a BAT-> Phones -> Export Phone -> All Details. Edit the CSV with BLF values and use it to insert phones -> All Details.

Sounds messy, but you can't just update the BLF SD with BAT.

I tried exporting all details but do not see any columns for BLF SD buttons in the file exported from the BAT.

Hi,

I followed the below method to update existing phones with BLF:

1) I have an existing phone with MAC address ABCDEFGHIJKL and DN 8888.
2) I create a phone template with BLF speed dial button.
3) I use bat.xlt to create CSV with BLF speed dial.
4) I upload the csv file to BAT as "phone - specific details"
5) I go to BAT --> Phone --> Insert phone --> Insert Phones Specific Details. Choose the file and phone template. Check "Override the existing configuration".

You can try doing this for one IP-Phone first.

Try the following.

---------------

NOTE: The following works for a single phone model. If you have multiple phone models you will need a different Phone Template for each model and a separate job.

--------------------------------------
STEP 1:
-------
BAT > Phones > Phone Template

Add New, select model and protocol
Configure only required fields on phone (no line config)
 Device Name
 Description
 Device Pool
 Phone Button Template
 Device Security Profile
 SIP Profile

STEP 2:
-------
BAT > Phones > Phone File Format > Create Phone File Format

For Device Level Fields:
 Device Name
 Description
 Device Pool
 Phone Button Template
 Device Security Profile
 SIP Profile
At the bottom, set number of BLF Speed Dials to a good number for your enterprise
Leave all other fields alone

STEP 3:
-------
BAT > Phones > Export Phones > Specific Details

- Do a query to find the phones you want
- Click Next
- Give your export a name
- Select the file format you created in Step 2
- Run the job

STEP 4:
-------
Download the file from Step 3
Change the extension to CSV so you can edit in Excel
Add BLF speed dials in the appropriate slots and save
 - Note that the each speed dial has a "Number" column and a "Label" column.
Upload the resulting file into BAT:
 Select Target: Phones
Select Transaction Type: Insert Phones - Specific Details

STEP 5:
-------
BAT > Phones > Insert Phones

Select your file from Step 4
Select the Template you created in Step 1
Select "Overwrite the existing configuration"
Optional: Check "Delete all existing Speed Dials before adding new Speed Dials"
Run your job
