C1121-4P CME licensing offline

Dears,

I bought C1121-4P router, IP phone and CME lisence(A-FLEX-EP-CME).

I’d like to activate a CME license for C1121-4P, to use an IP phone system.

I assumed that we can authenticate by the SLR method, like with the ISR4K.

How can I activate my license offline?

Network components

  • Router: C1121-4P
  • License: A-FLEX-EP-CME
  • Already created SA/VA
  • This system is not able to use the Internet. (Closed Network)

Thank you.

こんにちは

As you mentioned, SLR is the method for offline devices.
Is it not working? If yes, what's the exact issue?

Dear b.winter,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The ISR1K cannot be authenticated by SLR.

As a result of my research, I found the following site. And the following was written:
"Specific License Reservation (SLR) is supported on Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers." (1)

(1)
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/manual/cmeadm/cmeover.html#concept_779AC8A8399D4294AB699248BB5302F2

So I think there are other ways to authenticate. But I don't know what to do.
Can you lend me your wisdom?

Thank you in advance.

Which version is your router?
Maybe you need to upgrade it, before you do the SLR.

Dear b.winter,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I’ll show my routers version in the following.

My routers version:
Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.06.03a
Cisco IOS Software ISR Software Version 17.6.3a

Thank you in advance.

What commands do you enter via CLI?
Do you get any error messages?
A little more info would be very helpful.

Dear b.winter,
Thank you for your reply.

I’m sorry I couldn’t give you enough information.

The router is configured via the CLI.
I already have a SA/VA so I can use CSSM(Cisco Smart Software Manager).
But the router can't connect to the Internet.
I have to configure a CME offline.

The default setting is Ipbase only.
The router does not accept the command which is for setting a CME.

It displays an error message when I try to enter the commands.

For example:
voice command, dial command, etc.

———
Router(config)# voice service voip
voice service voip
^
% Invalid input detected at ‘^’ marker.
———

→ Do I need to install any software?

If you want more information, I will show it.

Thank you in advance.

You need to activate the "Voice" license first and then reload the router, but this has nothing to do with SLR in the first place.

Dear b.winter,

Thank you for your reply.

Based on your advice, I tried configuring the router. I was able to enter commands which are VoIP settings.
Thank you very much.

About license,
I’d like to use IP phone system (CME) permanently, so I think I need to authenticate it.

I purchased A-FLEX-EP-CME, but I also need to buy a UC license, Is that right?

Thank you in advance.

I'm no expert on licensing,
but I would say yes, you need a UC license and SIP Trunk licenses too (if you connect to a SIP provider).
But you could create a sample order in CCW and it will recommend you the licenses you need.
