Call manager ldap integration plus unity connection

Hello.

I am wondering if someone has done this before.

We have to integrate a cisco call manager that has been already working with its axl database and all the end users were importe to cisco unity connection. Now the customer wants to integrate the call manager to the active directory.  The question here how is the best way to integrate the unity connection. The new end users will have a different user id, but all the rest will remain the same (last name, first name and extension).

We would not have to erase the mailboxes that already exists in the unity connection. We are wonderin if it is possible to syncronize the actual mailbox users with the new ldap call managers end users?

I despise axl integrations with CUCM/CUC.  Nothing but trouble if you ask me.   I do like separate intergrations for CUCM and CUC.  Each having their own gives you more control, flex, etc.   The rule of thumb is that you can break the integration, and associate to a new one, but the user IDs much match or they will be purged within 24-48 hours.   You may end up rebuilding mailboxes on CUC if you break AXL.  I cant recall exactly what happens, but it could wipe out your users in CUC.   AXL is messy with this and flags certain things as this and that in the databases...
