Hello Experts,
A caller calls into our organization. A menu offers 2 options:
1) When the caller choose option 1, the call is sent to a number outside of our organization
2) Talk to an agent
The incoming call takes a DS0 of our PRI and reaches the menu where we provide option 1 and option 2 as mentioned above.
When option 1 is selected, a second DS0 is taken to send the call to the number outside of our organization. The call stays in our gateway and consumes 2 DS0s for the entire duration of the call. Is this the normal behavior? I always was under impression that after the call is transferred, the RTP traffic goes between the endpoints but in our case the gateway shows 2 call legs until the conversation ends.
Is there a way that we can free our DS0s after the call is transferred?
We are using MGCP with CUMC 11.5.
Thanks,
MK

Yes, that has always been the way this works, some telcos have TBCT and only in that scenario, your DS0s would free from that call flow.

Thanks Jaime,
If the telco supports this technolgy, do we need to do anything in our gateway? Any configurations?
Thanks,
MK

As it is TDM calls there are no RTP stream as such as that is a VoIP thing.
