Caller-id not working

Mike Buyarski

this is on a UC540 system (basically a CME8.6). we have caller-ID enabled on all ports but for a long time did not have caller ID on the phone lines(POTS lines) when we added that feature on the main line it starting acting real funny if the user would pick up the ringing phone on the first ring the call would fail(it would display the caller ID for that first ring) if the user would wait and not pick up the phone on the first ring the phone would stop ringing and then start again with no caller id on the phone(just anonymous) and the user can pick it up with no issues. if I turn off caller-id on the port then there is no issues, is there anything else I need to do to get caller ID to not mess up the call on the system?

Hello Mike,

Have a read at the various settings for CALLER-ID on POTS FXO.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/voice/command/reference/vrht_c4_ps5207_TSD_Products_Command_Reference_Chapter.html#wp1059072

It all depends on when the service provider sends the caller-id

On BT line in the UK we use something along these lines:-

voice-port 1/0/1
 description *** POTS LINE 01XXXXXXXXX ***
 supervisory disconnect dualtone mid-call
 output attenuation -3
 no comfort-noise
 cptone GB
 timeouts call-disconnect 5
 timeouts wait-release 5
 timing sup-disconnect 80
 connection plar opx 20000 cut-through-wait
 impedance complex2
 description voice port 1
 caller-id enable
 caller-id alerting dsp-pre-allocate
!

I found that adding the config to the port fixed the issue "caller-id alerting ring 2"
