Can a Route Pattern be assigned to a Gateway that ISN'T in a Route Group or is it essential that the gateway is part of a Route group before the route pattern is assigned?

You can assign a GW/trunk directly to a route pattern, but you cannot use that GW/trunk in any other route group or route pattern.
