Can Cisco SIP IP Phones register directly with CUCM8.5 and CUCM 8.6 or they require any thing else to register with CUCM8.5 or CUCM8.6

As long as you add the right right model with the right signaling such as sip then it should be ok

Absoultely, some phones i.e. 99XX are only SIP models, others i.e. 79XX can be either SIP or SCCP, when you build the phone in CUCM you simply specify the protocol you want to use.
