Can I add more CTI ports to my CUE Express

Hi all,

I have a Cisco Unity Express that have actually 8 ports, our Branch office grew up so we want The cue to catch more calls, but not buying anything for now.

This is what I have:

mail> show hardware

mail uptime is 2 weeks, 1 days, 0 hours, 14 minutes

CPU Model:                    Pentium III (Coppermine)

CPU Speed (MHz):              498.823

CPU Cache (KByte):            256

BogoMIPS:                     985.08

SKU:                          Unavailable

Chassis Type:                 C3845

Chassis Serial:               FTX

Module Type:                  NM

Module Serial:                FOC

UDI Description:              Cisco 2600/3700/ISR Module

Disk Drive:                   40GB

SDRAM (MByte):                256

mail> show software lic

Installed license files:

- voicemail_lic.sig : 100 MAILBOX LICENSE

Core:

- Application mode: CCM

- Total usable system ports: 8

Voicemail/Auto Attendant:

- Max system mailbox capacity time: 6000

- Default # of general delivery mailboxes: 20

- Default # of personal mailboxes: 100

- Max # of configurable mailboxes: 120

Interactive Voice Response:

- Max # of IVR sessions: Not Available

Languages:

- Max installed languages: 1

- Max enabled languages: 1

I wanted to know if my cue could actually handle 16 ports with 256 RAM, and how incrment that number.

can it support it?

Ca I chage the 256 ram to 512 ram and then reupload the licences?

either way, I'm new on this, so I don't know how can do both things, I've found some links ont he internet.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/2600/hardware/installation/notes/nmcuupgr.pdf (chage memory)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps5520/products_tech_note09186a0080222cbf.shtml (upload licences)

But I'm still down know if I can do that because the compatibility to hardware or where buy the memorys or where download new CTI port licenses.

Please kindly advise me!

kind regards.

NM-CUE supports a maximum of 8 calls, that cannot be expanded.

Hi Paolo,

I would like to think that is the answer,

But I have another router with 16 CTI ports numbers, it is also a NM-CUE the only difference is that is has 512MB SDRAM.

Here is the data.:

mail> Show hardware

se-10-252-111-2 uptime is 14 weeks, 4 days, 16 hours, 33 minutes

CPU Model:                    Pentium III (Coppermine)

CPU Cache (KByte):            256

BogoMIPS:                     985.08

SKU:                          Unavailable

Chassis Type:                 C3845

Module Type:                  NM

mail> show software licenses

- voicemail_lic.sig : 250 MAILBOX LICENSE

- Total usable system ports: 16

Voicemail/Auto Attendant:

- Max system mailbox capacity time: 18000

Interactive Voice Response:

I think it is all about the licenses.

regards.

The other module that you have is likely an NM-CUE-EC with a limit of 16 ports, even if not identified as such in the show command.

Upgrade a NM-CUE to NM-CUE-EC  (if technically possible at all) is not supported by Cisco.

I've found this on cisco

Thats my version of my CUE, I cannot download it! :S

regards.

Hi Juan,

I'm going with Paolo on this one His info is most correct. +5 "P"

In the link you pasted, note the second file is for 16 Voicemail Ports

rather than 16 IVR ports. You want the Voicemail Ports I'm pretty sure.

For the Network Module, Enhanced, (NME-CUE) only

Cheers!

Both are right.

Ports

Only the NME-CUE supports port licensing. Install one base license and from 0-8 increment licenses

for 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24 ports. The following conditions apply:

• Installing a base license will replace any existing port license.

• You can install an increment license only if your system already has a base license.

• Installing an increment license will fail if your system already has a 24-port license.

• A system can have licenses only for 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24 ports.

• Installing or removing a base license will fail if the resulting number of ports is more than the

number of IVR sessions for which you have licenses plus two (2).

I just wanted to know why same hardware (just different ammount of memory) supports different characteristics, maybe the part number has a license packed preinstalled acording its capabilities.

Time to save money for a UCCX

5 stars both.

For a flexible and powerful AA/IVR solution that has no limits in terms of concurrent calls, requires no server and no additional hardware, you can look into using TCL/IVR scripts on the VG, these also support VXML and more.

Thank you for the nice rating and good luck!
