I have a 7960 running the SIP FW, and I have 2 7914's to attach to it. Are the rumour's correct that they don't work when using SIP. If they do can someone tell me how to get them to work properly. Do they require different software loaded to work in the SIP enviroment? and do I just browse to the phone to enter the monitored extension details? any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
With what do you plan to use them? Seems that will not be a cisco solution, so you may find that the 7960+7914 won't work. The "right" software to run would be SCCP. Finally, assigning extension is not done with a web browser, but by the softswitch itself.

Hi, the SIP firmware for the 7960 does not support the 7914 expansion module? The only way is using SCCP and the Cisco CM?

are you using asterisk ? may be the "sccp" or "skinny" packages can help have it working in sccp. More details at voip-info.org

That's correct, 7914 do not support SIP. The latest update i got on it was there will be 7914 support around CCM 6.1 version and at the first stage it will support just one 7914 per phone.

I realize this post is more than 10 years old, but I too am attempting to use a 7960 with a 7914 expansion module on SIP, I'm wondering if there are any updates. Thanks.
