I have a scenario where MWI got some issues.
IP Phone DN: 2468 (4 Digit Extension)
Voice Mail Box Mask: +18059182XXX
User Extension: +18059182468
If there is a voicemail, the MWI is not turning ON. I have configured MWI Manually for 2468 (4 Digit Extension in Unity Connection) and the MWI started working.
.:: Is there any way to turn on MWI without adding the 4 digit extension manually in the case of Voice Mail Box Mask based deployments?
.:: How can we add MWI automatically for Alternate extensions? (if we add an alternate extension, MWI should automatically added)
.:: What is the commended design if we configure Voice Mail Box Mask in the Call Manager Voice Mail Profile?

You can set up SIP trunk integration between CUCM and Unity Connection as per the following guide if you do not want to set up MWI extensions manually
