Cisco 7960 reboots @ network configuration

Hi guys,

I am having this issue for few days and hoping someone here can help me out! Got a 7960 phone that I moved from non cisco system with SIP firmware. Been trying to make it work with production CUCM for some time and noticed it had status messages like following (phone was picking all DHCP details)..

W220 TFTP Error: Illegal Op

Status Messages

W350 unprovisioned proxy-backup

W351 unprovisioned proxy-emergency

W362 No valid Line Names provisioned

W210 TFTP Error: Not found SIPDefault.cnf

W220 TFTP Error: Not found SIP000D65BB8327.cnf

So I though I'd connect it on lab enviornment where everything is one big 192.168.x.x subnet, phone seemed to work and updated it's firmware to newer one (noticed it now have security option 10) and picked up test ext 99999. Hoping it might have resolved the problem, I moved the phone back to production and to my surprise phone came back with same 99999 ext and even had a dial tone!!!!

I did few config erase but nothing worked, so did some factory defaults and it changed nothing! I checked the phone configuration and noticed that it is still pointing to old CUCM 192.168.x.x in list of CUCM! So decided to do DHCP = No and manually change few settings! Now what is happening is when ever I try to enter 'network configuration' menu, phone reboots and is now making it impossible for me to do anything else!

Can someone guide me if this can be restored?

Amir

You need to configure correctly for phone configuration files, etc.

There are many, many threads on the subject.

Thank you for your reply Paolo,

But how am I to enter network config menu if phone reboots when I try to enter?

Can you show me a work around it?

Amir
