Cisco Presence Installation impact to IP telephony

Hi,

we have cluster with 8 CUCM servers (publisher + 7 subscribers). We would like to add Cisco IM & Presence as new feature.

Can we install Cisco presence during working hours? Do we have to expect some impact to current IP telephony?

Thanks,

S.

Hi Sinisa,

There should not be any impact to Current IP telephony.

Prior to 10 no impact. From 10 onward there is tight integration with CUCM. I don't think there will be an impact.

Hi Sinisa,

Since the IM&P node needs to be added on CUCM under System > Server before you install it, you should take into consideration the following from the IM&P install guide

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/install/10_0_1/CUCM_BK_I95AD2FE_00_installing-cucm-100/CUCM_BK_I95AD2FE_00_installing-cucm-100_chapter_01001.html

"After you install a new node in an existing cluster, all phones that are registered to the cluster are reset."

I am sure about this happening with CUCM nodes, haven't got a chance to test it with IM&P but it is not mentioned that this is only applicable to CUCM nodes.

My suggestion is to go ahead with the IM&P Publisher deployment during a maintenance window if you don't have a confirmation about this behavior via TAC or your Cisco Account team.
