Compatibility between CUCM 7.1.3 and VG224 with new IOS

Hi all,

we have a CUCM v.7.1.3 and some gateway VG224 with IOS Software-12.4.2T6.

we need to upgraded to VG224 to version 15.1(4) MD10. 

Question: VG224 with IOS 15.1(4) MD1 is still compatible with cucm 7.1.3 ? 

We are doing a high level design for a migration from cucm 7.1 to cucm 11 with  21 remote site in which there are  vg224 and our client ask to riduce disruptions...

I am sure it is compatible. CUCM generally doesnt have IOS dependency, it is more of a device dependency. If the device is supported, then the IOS wont be an issue. Curios question though is why upgrading IOS on VG and not upgrade CUCM?

here's the situation: Metro Ip Telephony sistem  production facilities

- Cluster of 3 MCS7835 with cucm 7.1.3 @ Hq

- 2 x ISR2851 with 4 PRI @ Hq

- 21 remote site with 4 ISR 2811 and 4 VG224 fo each station 

Request of upgrade by our customer and we would like to make sure that we have explored every feasible because customer nedd "zero disruptions"

Our idea:

Firs phase: for each station. 

Upgrade 2811 --> 2911 (still compatible with cucm 7.1.3)

Upgrade vg224 with new IOS (you confirm compatible with cucm 7.1.3  :0)  )

Leave CUCM with 7.1.3 and prepare New cluster of CUCM v11 (on be7000) with Cisco PDC

If there's no problem in 2nd phase at HQ switch off Cucm 7.1 to cucm 11

Yes, this is a normal procedure, you can also upgrade the firmware of IP phones in batches prior to the upgrade and switching over to new version.
