That is part of the IOS based conference bridge configuration. In short, cisco call manager software conference bridges can only do G.711ulaw, so in order to allow callers requiring G.729 or any other codec (see the list of codecs above) to join a conference call, you need to setup a hardware based conference bridge on a router with DSP's. This hardware bridge will register with call manager and be assigned to mrg's and mrgl's. The max sessions will vary depending on how many DSP you have available in your router.
