So I had a working 7941 phone w/ Asterisk, but had to change the IP address of the Asterisk server. I updated the XML file, erased the phone settings, and rebooted, but it kept looking for the old server.
My next step was do a factory reset, and now the phone is in a continuous boot cycle. I have downloaded and extracted the 8.2(2)SR4 SIP firmware files to my TFTP server, but just see this in the logs:
Jun 22 09:41:15 myserver tftpd[34640]: Filename: 'term41.default.loads'
Jun 22 09:41:15 myserver tftpd[34640]: Mode: 'octet'
Jun 22 09:44:00 myserver tftpd[34668]: Filename: 'term41.default.loads'
Jun 22 09:44:00 myserver tftpd[34668]: Mode: 'octet'
Jun 22 09:44:08 myserver tftpd[34695]: Filename: 'term41.default.loads'
Jun 22 09:44:08 myserver tftpd[34695]: Mode: 'octet'
Since the phone is grabbing the term41.default.loads file but doing nothing afterwards, my conclusion here is that the file is corrupted. I've examined it, and it looks OK, but also tried newer firmware files with the same result.
Ideas?

The software version may be too new for the phone to upgrade, try some 7.x version.

Well the thing is I'm not upgrading or downgrading, I'm just trying to get the phone to boot following a factory erase.
Prior to the erase, it was running 8.2(2)SR4, which is the latest stable version that I've found works with Asterisk

try some 7.x version.
For the 7941G, the oldest software I can download is 8.0(2)_SR1
I gave that a try, but still no luck. It just keeps rebooting and pulling term41.default.loads from the TFTP server.

Ah ha! The solution was to use the 8-5-2 firmware. Found it on this blog:
