CUCM 4.x to 7.x migration. What to do about 7910s and DMA?

I have pulled the DMA data from the 4.x server.  The problem is that the 4.x database contains hundreds of 7910 phones that aren't supported in 7.x.  I have purchased 6900-series replacements, so I have that covered.  But I'm concerned that the data will not import correctly becuase 7910 isn't a valid phone type in 7.x.  Has anyone done done a DMA upgrade that included no-longer-supported phone types?  Will it simply refuse to import the 7910s but import everything else?

Is there a simple way to get into the exported DMA data and swap the phone type and MAC address before I import it into 7.x?

On a potentially unrelated note, the 7.x is just a temporary setup.  I will them migrate the 7.x setup to an 8.6.2 setup.  Probably not important for this question, but better to be safe than sorry.

7910 is still an option on CUCM 9.0(1), why do you say it's not supported on 7.X??

Just looked in my lab and when I try to add a new phone it's there as an option.

Hi Kyle,

Just thought I would add a short note to the great info from Java-Man +5

We ran DMA with approx. 35 - 7910's and didn't encounter any error that

was specifically related to them. We did have errors initially when we ran DMA

but they were related to things like names with special characters, users who

weren't associated with primary lines and unassigned DN's that had not been

deleted via the Route Plan report > delete>unassigned. We also had to upgrade

the Callmanager OS before the DMA would run to completion.

Ashish from Cisco TAC - SR 617179273 was super helpful in identifying the errors.

We still use the same 7910's today

Cheers! And best of luck!

Rob
