CUCM 6.0 settings dont take until reboot

sgoodman

I'm running a CUCM 6.0 system and no settings take effect until the system is rebooted.  Whether its a simple name change on a extenstion or changing a translation pattern.  Also rebooting phones from the web interface has no effect.  I have run a replication repair between the SUB and PUB with no resolution.

Any help in troubleshooting this strange issue would be greatly appreciated.

so the data u change does get stored in the db, but it looks like none of these changes get pushed out to the phones which partially may be an issue with the TFTP service..do you have good replication status between the servers ? have you tried resetting phones from both servers ? was a patch or anything recently applied ?

Thanks for the reply, i would agree the changes get stored in the DB, however its not just phone changes that dont take until reboot, it could be any system changes as well.

Replication status is good.

No patches have recently been applied as far as i have been told (I have not been managing this system for the past 6 months, and when issues came up i was asked to take a look)

TFTP service is running and phones appear to pull files from TFTP with out issues.

Which version of CUCM are you on?

I remember a major issue in 6.1(2) which meant that changes made to the database didn't take place until the CallManager service was restarted. This was fixed in 6.1(3).

Barry i am running 6.0.1.  do you think the same issue?  Do you have a link to the article referencing the issue?

This sounds like CSCso93220. please use the cisco bugtoolkit to pull info on this defect. 6.0.1 is affected by this bug. Basically, an affected server's 'show tech notify' output will be missing the 'ccm' component

Yup; looks like the same bug I found in 6.1(2). You'll need to upgrade to fix this issue.

HTH. Barry

I wish this were the case, but when i do a 'show tech notify' from both the publisher and subscriber 'ccm' is listed in both.  The bug report also references version 6.1.2.

Any other ideas?

Hi,

Is the problem happening when you see the 'ccm' component in the 'show tech notify' output ? CSCso93220 causes the ccm component to be deleted from the notification list of database layer monitor - so the problem happens all of a sudden, and 'show tech notify' output at that point would be missing the 'ccm' component.

Sriram,

This happens at all times, immediately after a reboot even.  CCM is always listed when i do a 'show tech notify'  however changes are never being reflected until after a reboot.

Any other ideas since this CSC doesn't seem to fit?
