How does CUCM integrate with Microsoft Lync? From what I am being told this is done through a downloaded application at the desktop that then ties out to call manager. Is there any additional integration necessary?
Please let me know if you do.
Thanks.

Thank you for the link, this is helpful. I am guessing a sip trunk would be needed in call manager that ties out to Lync, is that correct?

Hi
No - a 'typical' deployment as Cisco intended would involve just CUCI-Lync.
You would disable any telephony/video functionality from Lync, essentially just using it for IM and Presence.
Any video functionality, telephony control, conferencing would be provided by Cisco products.
In that deployment no SIP trunk is required.
A SIP trunk is only necessary for:
- Integration of Lync 'Enterprise Voice' with CUCM (essentialy linking Cisco and Microsoft soft PBXs together)
- SIP trunk from Lync-->CIsco Presence Server for remote call control (this is consider the old-fashioned way of achieving what CUCI-Lync does)
- Dial in access to the MS Conferencing functions provided by Lync

Aaron

Can you direct me to the link for instructions? I have been looking for instructions. I purchase 2 CUCM books but it did not have the instruction.
Thanks

Thank you very much. However, I have PRIs not SIP.

Yes it is possible.
This document refers to the SIP trunk connectivity between the CUCM and Lync (Skype for Bussiness) enabling this way Lync users tp place calls via the CUCM infrastructure.
You can ebable Lync users to dial out via the CUCM+ Cisco VoiceGateway (PRI)

On the following document you will find the procedure of registering a Voice Gateway on the Call Manager, based on the type on telephone line you have, for example PRI.
The idea I was describing above (and previously mentioned by Team) is to have Lync users placing call via the CUCM Infrastructure, as generally described below:
Lync Client->Lync Server (SIP Trunk<->)CUCM->VoiceGateway-PRI line
