Hi,

I'm newbie for CUCM and really need some advise and assistance

We just buy new Cisco ISR 4351 router with T1/EI PRI port and CUCME enhanced lisense.

Our plan is to connect the router to pstn network thru PRI and need to connect cisco, huawei and yealink sip phone to the call manager thru sip

i really appreciate if you can advise some initial configuration to start the implementation

Thank you

a) A good option to connect your ISR with CUCM is using the MGCP protocol; other options are SIP (and H.323). This will help you: How to Configure MGCP with Digital PRI and Cisco CallManager

b) Registering Cisco phones to CUCM is pretty straight-forward. You can do it through Device->Phone, or use the Bulk Admin Tool if they are big in number

c) To register other SIP phones to CUCM follow this guide: How to register Third-Party SIP phones with Communications Manager

if your PRI gateway needs to communicate to anything other then Cisco CUCM. SIP is your best and probably only option. i,e. build a sip trunk from the gateway to anything that has phones registered on it and create dial peers to point to the sip trunk(s)

So you are going to use it for CME/CUCME per your license.
For PRI, you can refer to the following -
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios/12_2/dial/configuration/guide/fdial_c/dafchant.pdf

For SIP Phones, you need to configure "voice register global" and "voice register pool/dn" sections on the router. For Non-Cisco phones you won't be able to do mac based authentication. Following doc should be helpful in order to setup SIP CUCME -

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-express/99946-cme-sip-guide.html

Thank you and appreciate your response.

Does the ISR box comes with web based configuration or purely CLI based configuration

You have CLI as well as web access. An example of the native GUI from the 4000 Series ISRs Software Configuration Guide, However configuration is more flexible and done mostly through the CLI.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/4400/software/configuration/guide/isr4400swcfg/bm_isr_4400_sw_config_guide_chapter_011.html

Alternatively Cisco provides a tool called Cisco Configuration Professional which you can try, CCP is a PC-based application that provides the device management for ISRs. It simplifies router, firewall, intrusion prevention system (IPS), VPN, unified communications, WAN, LAN, and basic wireless configuration through easy-to-use wizards.

CCP does not support ISR-4k's and it won't in the future as well -
https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuu15924/?reffering_site=dumpcr

Interesting, I wasn't aware of this, apparently ISR 4431 and 4451 are supported as per the release notes for CCP:
https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuu15924/?reffering_site=dumpcr

Any reason why this bug was terminated, is it because CCP was originally designed for IOS.

.

yeah but listed as supported in 2.8, why the exclusion in 3.3, are you aware of an alternative for CCP other than CLI?

That's strange. That doc was updated in 2014. ISR-4k's were not in existence at that time. Same is the case for CSR's.
You can look in CCP Express which is a potential replacement for CCP. The current version available on CCO is 3.5. I am not aware if 4k's are supported or not.

You can configure GUI for CME as well. But it is not that robust and just not give you a lot of options for configuration and definitely not for troubleshooting. You can take a look at it though -

With ISR-4k, the PVDM module needs to be on the NIM card to utilise TDM. Any PVDM on the mobo cannot be used by the TDM NIM. Mobo DSP's are solely for the purpose of media resources.
So, you either buy another PVDM for your NIM or remove the PVDM from the mobo and screw it on the NIM itself.

The error itself states it as well -
For MFT T1E1 modules, pri-group has to have DSP (PVDM4) modules installed.
