Hi guys. We are upgrading phones from 7965 to 8845 and question is : Do i need to create and assign new Device Profiles for 8845 for users instead of 7965 profiles we are using , we are using EM for all of them . So far I didn't see any major settings/difference btw these 2 profiles , but You never know , there might be invisible change/settings for different phone types.
so if phone is 8845 can it have 7965 device profile or it must have new 8845 dev profile ?
What is the cisco recommendation for this type of change ?

There is a concept for EM equivalency between certain models of phones, not sure if 88XX and 79XX are following it, but easy way to tell is to login with EM profile that has at least 2 DNs, if you observe both DNs on the different model i.e. logging with 7965 profile onto 8845 phone you are good.

You should create a new UDP for the new phone model if that's going to be a permanent replacement, the other alternative is to configure the default device profiles for the new phone models you'll have.
