CUCM Hunt Pilot Voice Mail

Hello All,

I've researched this quite a bit and I can't quite get the answer that I'm looking for.  Perhaps it's because I'm fairly new to the voice world, but I digress.  Here are the particulars.

CUCM v7.1.2

Unity v7.0(2)

So here's the request.

When a group number is dialed, all members of the group have the ability to pick up that call.  If no one is available, the dialed group number will send the caller to the group number voicemail.  In turn, all members of the group have the ability to access the group voicemail box.

Example.

Bob dials 22222 (group number) and in turn, 33333, 44444 & 55555 (group members) ring.  This is a broadcast ring, not one after the other.  No one picks up, so Bob is now sent to 22222 voicemail.  (An exchange mailbox is created and imported into Unity to create the voice mailbox)

*** I'm good up to this point.  This is where the confusion come into play for me. ***

My challenge is how to give the group members access to the group voice mailbox.  Also, how to have the group members be notified that there is a voicemail waiting for anyone of them to pick up.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance.  I'm sure I will have a "DOH" moment when I get the answer(s) back, but I just can't quite wrap it up at this time.

Let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks,

Melvin

Hi

One trick people use is to the 33333,44444,55555 etc as 'alternate extensions' on the 22222 mailbox. That lights up MWI, and allows them to log in with just PIN from their extension. However:

- That won't work if the users also have personal voicemail boxes

- Also off the top of my head I don't  know if Exchange has similar 'alternate extension' functionality. I imagine it has.

Another trick I use is to give all the folks in the group a phone with at least two lines.

You can then assign extension 22222 to the second line on all the phones. That will get them a light and a voicemail icon on the second line on all the phones when a voicemail is left. As you want a broadcast group, 22222 could be a simple shared line accross the handsets.

If you want it to still be a hunt group, you can create that second line in a new, unroutable partition (i.e. one that you create, and don't add to any CSSs) to get around the conflict.

Kindly be informed that 2222 is a pickup number (number which is used to call the service of the prickup).

You can confiure as below::

on CUCM

In each DN you can do cfna (call forward no answer)  to  1011 which 1011 is a second DN on all IP phones .

on Cisco Unity

Thank you for your input Islam.Kamal.  Each of the group members has their own voicemail, so I do not want their personal DN CFNA to go to the group voice mailbox.  As stated, I want the Hunt Pilot DN CFNA to go to the Hunt Pilot voice mailbox and I want the group members to be able to retrieve the voice message sitting in the Hunt Pilot voice mailbox.

The Hunt Pilot mailbox has been created in Exchange and that mailbox has been imported into Unity.

Ok , that is the same . Please use the same and change 1011 to 2222 and ignor CFNA on all phones it will be only for 2222 . To allow users for cisco unity , you can look up for Cisco unity configuration .

Thank you

Please if this will help

Thank you for your reply Aaron.  I found this in the forum and it is very close to what I am trying to accomplish.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/312059

For item 1, I can't make the Hunt Pilot DN an Alternate Extension on an existing Line Group Members mailbox.  I'm wondering if it is a Unity limitation. (I'm not using Unity Connection).

For item 2, when he says "shared" line, is he talking about a new DN on the phone configuration page?  By the way, the users in the group have 7960 IP phones.

Kindly check my answer up , may help you also

Hi Melvin,

Here's one way of doing this;

Create a new number, let's say 66777 (can be any number) and

we'll call this the group mailbox #. Add this new number, 66777, to

a spare button on 33333, 44444 & 55555.

Change the mailbox from 22222 to 66777.

Then add 22222 as an Alternate Extension under 66777. This

can be done on Unity ...... Here's how;

Sharing a Cisco Unity Voice Mail Box between Two or More IP Phones

Configure Alternate Extensions

Open the Unity System Administrator web page.

Navigate  to the subscriber's profile. Select Subscribers > Find and Select a  Subscriber > Enter Subscriber Information then click Find and click  the Subscriber's name for the subscriber that owns the primary phone  (66777).

When the subscriber page comes up, select the Alternate Extensions option and click Add.

Enter the alternate extension number (in this case 22222) and click the Save icon.

From this good Unity doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_configuration_example09186a008015ceec.shtml#steps

So now when a call routes through the 22222 Hunt Config and arrives at

Unity, it will see a match via the Alternate extension between 22222 & 66777

and will set the RED message lamp on 66777 on all 3 phones

Cheers!

Hello Rob and thank you for your input.  Trust me, I'm not trying to make this difficult, I just want to make sure I understand.  I think I am almost there.

Create a new number, let's say 66777 (can be any number) and we'll call this the group mailbox #. Add this new number, 66777, to a spare button on 33333, 44444 & 55555.

- I do have a seperate mailbox number and it is 66777.  So on the individual member phones, I "Add a new DN" line and use 66777, or would I "Add a new SD" and use 66777?

Change the mailbox from 22222 to 66777.

- Since I have a seperate mailbox number, there wouldn't be a change here, seeing that the 22222 is the Hunt Pilot nubmer, right?

Then add 22222 as an Alternate Extension under 66777.

- On the mailbox number 66777 in Unity, I have added 22222 as an alternate number.

Thanks,

Melvin

Hey Melvin,

No worries, you are almost there

Q1 - add a new DN/Line with 66777 (this is for the visual aspect of MWI & access)

Q2 - correct....22222 will only show as an Alternate extension under the 66777 profile. I only

made this reference as 22222 can't be both a standard mailbox & Alternate extension.

Q3 - right on the money

Cheers!

Rob

Sweet, this looks to be what I was looking for.  I believe where I  was getting confused is the additional line on the phone and then the  piece in Unity with the additional extension.  I wasn't sure about where  the additional extension was added to the individual group members  voice mailbox or just the Hunt Pilot voice mailbox.  I do believe I am  good to go now.  I'll get with the end users and see if all is well for  them.

Thanks once again everyone.
