Could you please describe me what is difference between CUCM only and  CUCM IM & Presence server ? Does CUCM IM & Presence function both CUCM and presence server ?

Hi,

Both are two different products. CUCM is your call agent responsible for registration, call routing etc. CUPS is basically responsible for as name states Instant Messaging, exchange presence information etc.

No, both of the servers can't replicate each other functionality. In any deployment, you must need call agent viz CUCM. CUPS is the matter of choice and requirement whether you need IM and Presence functionality or not.
