cucm upgrade question

Hi all,

A customers is going to upgrade a cucm environment consisting of 2 servers (Pub/Sub)

From 11.0 to 11.5

As you all know you have to start upgrading  with the Pub, after that you can choose whether you want to switch version or not.

Its mandatory to do this upgrade/switch version after office hours.

I was wondering if its possible to start doing the upgrade procedure before or at during office hours?

And start " switch version" after office hours?

Will the upgrade procedure impact or harm the cucm environment (downtime) etc.

I would like to do this procedure to gain more time in case the next day things go wrong.

And after the pub immediately upgrade/switch subscriber server.

Hi Monasir,

that depend on the way how you configure the service on Pub and Sub, if you running Manager service / MoH / IPVMS service as fully residency between servers you can go through working hours, you can upload the ISO image (Upgrade) during working hours and switch version after/during working hours. Upgrade CUCM will not affect any service, down time will start after switch version.

Hi Thanks for your reply that makes sense.

I need to know the right order while upgrading cucm this is my procedure

Because they have 2 servers ( Publisher/subscribers)

edit virtual machine of the cucm (choose the correct ISO 11.5)

Upgrade Pubisher after succes switch version Publisher (via OS upgrade GUI)

Upgrade Subscriber after success switch version Subscriber.

Check database replication runtime

Is the above correct?

When i download the ISO is this bootable or not?

Mandatory reading for an upgrade

A) upgrade and migration guide

B) release notes

C) README from target version ova

All the answers to your questions around the steps, and the order of them, are in there.

No bootable media is available on CCO, only if you use PUT you get bootable media.
