CUCM Upgrade

Hello everyone,

We plan to move from CUCM 9.1.2 to 11.5. I would like to know if there

is a need for new licenses or not in order to allow the existing and the new phones to work.

In fact, we got new Cisco Phones 7821 and 8845 which are not actually recognized by the CUCM.

Regards,

Licensing is specific per version, if you have your support contracts in place that entitle you for major upgrades, you just need to work with Licensing to change your 9.x licensing for 11.x licensing.

Valencia,

I don't get what you mean by this: you just need to work with Licensing to change your 9.x licensing for 11.x licensing.
Could you please explain more?

Regards,

Yes, you need new licenses for CUCM version 11.5. If your CUCM version 9.1 software and licensing is covered under active Smartnet contract then you need to order CUCM 11.5 upgrade licenses via Cisco Product Upgrade Tool (PUT). Once you order licenses, you will receive edelivery emails with PAK codes from Cisco licensing team. You can register PAK codes online at Cisco Software Central or you can reach out to Cisco TAC licensing team to get new license files.
