Hi Guys
I must be missing something here but I have CUCM 7.0.1.11000-2 and want to update to 7.0.1.21015-1 to perform a restore. I have uploaded the device pack to the CUCM using the CLI and can see it when I click show\software however after a roboot it remains on the pervious version. I have checked Settings\Version and there only seems to be one active version to run with, can anyone help?
thanks
Ian

Ian,
That's a great question, simple answer is no. The closest I can find is an engineering special ES_7.0.1.21007
It's time to ring TAC and ask, there is no point in wasting hours downloading and install the wrong version. Some versions of code are never publicly available.
Sorry,
Craig

Hi Ian,
Just to clarify one point here. You asked;
"thanks for the replay Craig, is there any way of doing this after the install if I answered no, to the patch question during the install?
Ian"
If you ever find the file which you are looking for (7.0.1.21015-1) this can be loaded without
starting over from scratch. It would be considered a normal upgrade done on the inactive partition
as shown in the attached link (via OS>Software Upgrade);

Hi ian,
I'm sorry to be a pain here, but can you explain what you are meaning
to do here? You mention a restore and Device PAK which would not be related
in any real sense here.
Device PAKs are meant to update/add IP Phone Firmware and restores via DRS
must be done from matching versions.
Just let us know and I'm sure we can help.
Cheers!

Sorry to chime in on another question... it is conserning device packs.. We have to down power in our Comm room this weekend, so i thought what a great time to upgrade phone loads. I last upgraded these loads 2 or 3 years ago. I cannot find the documentaion to complete this on CCM 6.1 Anyone have any links????

Hi Phillip,
No worries!
These notes are from a 5.x Device Pack ReadMe/release notes. The process for CUCM 6.1(x) is the same
When you go to download the 6.x Device Pack look for these same notes on the Software Downloads page.
Cheers!
Rob
Cisco provides the following guidance to help you successfully install and/or upgrade Cisco Unified CallManager software:
· To minimize call-processing interruptions during the upgrade process, make sure that all servers are running the same version of Cisco Unified CallManager software before beginning this upgrade.
· Make sure that the servers are online before you begin this Device Package installation.
6. Note: Cisco recommends that you apply this Device Package during a maintenance window.
Procedure
NOTE: Apply this patch to all of your Cisco Unified CallManager servers, beginning with the publisher server and TFTP server.
When applying this Device Package to enable new device support, a cluster-wide reboot is required for those devices to register successfully. A clusterwide reboot IS NOT required when running to update existing firmware/support.
For Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the Software Upgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software that Cisco Systems approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-based software applications that you may have been using with a previous version of Cisco Unified CallManager with Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1.
7. Note: In order to change the loads manually, you do NOT need to reinstall this Device Package. The new files will be present in the TFTP folder. Go to CCMAdmin->Device->Device Settings->Device Defaults and manually change the name of the load file (for specific device(s)) to the new load and click UPDATE.
Note: If you are rebooting the cluster, the next step does not need to be done.
8. The Cisco TFTP service now must be stopped and restarted on the TFTP server, then reset the affected devices for them to upgrade to the new load.

Hi Rob
thanks for the prompt reply. I think tihs might be my misunderstanding. I am trying to restore a Call Manager configuration but when I do the OS system tells me the original device was running is 7.0.1.21015-1 however the new system I have built is at 7.0.1.11000-2 and I need to get the new one to the same level, how do I do this?
thanks

Ian,
When rebuilding the server it asks part way through do you want to install an update/patch? At this point feed it 7.0.1.21015-1 upgrade so when your ready to do the restore the versions should be the same.
Hope this helps,
Craig

Thanks for the clarification Rob, I appreciate it.

Rob,
That's embarrassing I was thinking you fed the file as part of the recovery but obviously thats a DMA file not a back up.
I stand corrected, great catch.
Many Thanks,
Craig
