I am setting up a fax system. A PRI will come into a router which will connect to a rightfax server via sip. I have a DID range on the rightfax server of let say (385) 555-xxxx. So do I need a voip peer and a pots peer to get the calls from the PSTN to the voip server? Can I use generic peers or do I have to matched explicitly. any help would be appreciated.

Yes you should set up pots dial peer to atch inbound call and a voip dial-peer for outbound calls to your sip server.
Default dial-peers have a lot of limitations and the config on default dial perrs can not be changed.
