Difference between MCS-7845-H2-RC2 & MCS-7845-H2-IPC2 ?

Hi,

I want to know, what does the "RC2" mean in MCS-7845-H2-RC2. I want to know whether CUCM 7.0 or CUCM 7.1.5 can be installed on MCS-7845-H2-RC2? Is there any data sheet which shows CUCM 7.0 or CUCM 7.1.5 can be installed on MCS-7845-H2-RC2? What does the terminology RC2 and IPC2 stands in MCS-7845-H2-RC2 &  MCS-7845-H2-IPC2 exactly?

As far as I'm aware, there is no difference. I believe the suffixes indicate what software the box was original bought to run (e.g. CUCM, CUPM, CUPS, etc)

The page at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html

details what's supported on what.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for the reply.

I am also thinking the same way. I have that link with me, but in that link it does not say we can install CUCM 7.X on MCS-7845-H2-RC2.

There are different part names for MCS-7845-H2 servers. All their hardware capability are identical. I have screen shot for that.

In that link I posted, just look for MCS-7845-H2.

The 7845-H2s are supported for CUCM 7, 8 & 9 (Although you *may* need to upgrade RAM & HDs)

I'm certainly running my 8.6 cluster on 7845-H2 boxes.

Hi khanfawaz,

MCS-7845-H2-IPC2 can be broken down into the following:

MCS-7845     -->     Server Hardware Identifier (Model)

H2                -->     HP 2nd Generation

IPC2             -->     2nd Generation Chassis supported by the CUCM Business Unit.

All the below MCS servers have the same config, but the chassis are labeled by different business units (BUs) for different products.

DL380-G5 Server

2x Xeon 5140 2.33GHz Processor

4G RAM

4x 146GB Hard Drives

MCS-7845-H2-IPC2

MCS-7845-H2-CCX2

MCS-7845-H2-CCE2

MCS-7845-H2-MOB1

MCS-7845-H2-RC2

Having said that, from what I remember, different BUs ship out these servers bundled with the software. Also, the BIOS, RAID, HDD versions may vary depending on the need for the application for which the server was intended to be used for. You can refer to the following link which shows that RC1/RC2 is not there in the table for any version of CUCM out there:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html

HTH.

Regards.

Harmit.

But don't worry about changing use, as the software installer will set all necessary RAID, firmwares, etc as part of the install.

The RC2 was an MPE bundle, whereas the IPC were generally bundled for CUCM, etc. HW specs looks to be the same.
