E1 PRI. Calls to PSTN and from PSTN are not connected.

Hi,

there is a following structure: PSTN <-E1 PRI-> 5350 <-IP-> SoftSwitch

The problem is the calls from IP tel to PSTN go out, but connections are not established. The same situation with calls from PSTN to IP.

IP tel (PSTN numbet) is 577011

PSTN (city) number for testing calls is 549079

Mobile number for testing calls is 9230761245

PSTN station takes 10 digits in number and returns 6 digits (if it's a local number) and 10 digits in other cases.

I made some test calls and put it in a file which I attached.

Here is config of 5350:

192.168.1.20 is a SoftSwitch

Something is very wrong with the PSTN circuit, because GW sends setups many times, but never receives a reply.

Then you see recovery on timer expiry.

Of course telco will say everything is ok, but they do that all the time.

The PSTN station engineer says that on PSTN everything is ok and something wrong with my device as it sends setup twice or more.

What should I do in this case? Ask the engineer to check their circuit?

Tell him that you device sends setup twice, because it doesn't receive a reply within 1 sec, as dictated by the standards.

These telco types are all the same.

As I understand for normal SETUP the Telco and 5350 must have different types: NETWORK and USER, is not it? Maybe is the problem in this conflicts? How to manually set a type (NETWORK or USER) on 5305, which command (just to know)?

Your setup is right, if you was to use

"isdn protocol-emulate network", L2 does not comes up. Just say you don't pay until it works.

Please remember to rate useful posts with the scrollbox below.

I found out an interesting thing.

I tried to call twice to PSTN number. First attempt was not successful, answer for SETUP did not come to cisco 5350. But, the first attempt was successful and connection between phones was established. Telco enginner says that he sees only one attempt for connect (which was normal).

Then I tried to call to mobile phone. I did it three times. Result:

1 attempt: unsuccessful, the SETUP reply did not come to cisco 5350

2 attempt: successful

3 attempt: successful

In this case Telco enginner says that he sees only 2 attempts for connet (which were successful).

So what happens? Why the first attempts to establish SETUP are incorrect and Telco engineer did not see them? What should I do to find the problem?

Check circuit, for errors on serial interface.

Do you mean: show int serial 3:0/15 or some debug command? Sorry, I'm newbie in it that's why I don't know exactly how to check it. Maybe there is a document how to do it.

Has the carrier specified no CRC framing ?

sorry if thats a bit vague, i'm just comparing it to current configurations and that is the only difference that i can see.

Yep, it has.

The interesting thing is that when a call is unsuccessful I see signaling layer 2 brokes:

but how to set T200 timer to another value? there is no command like that:

(conf)# isdn timer T200

You can go around and around on this, but unless telco fixes either circuit or their equipment, nothing will work.

Router is ok, they are not but do not admit, same story all the time.
