I am currently on CUCM 7.1(5) and upgrading to 9.1
We have uploaded our 7.x licenses on the system but we have some 8.x licenses. We are getting ready to upgrade to 9.1. Should we upload our unused 8.x licenses before we upgrade to 9.1? Will the system recognize the 8.x license once migrated to 9.x?

The system will not understand 8.x licenses once you migrate to version 9. If those are just DLU's you "might" be able to apply it to the 7.x system. Or you will have to work with Cisco licensing directly to get this ironed out.

Hi Garima,
If you are talking about ununsed PAK for IP phones, then u need to upload them prior u upgrade to CUCM 9.x.You can share the LCU report prior to migration which would consist of unused DLUs.
LCU needs to be downloaded from Cisco site and can be run on a PC from where PUB is reachable.
The same needs to be shared along with ELM after migration to licensing@cisco.com.
you can refer the link for Pre-Upgrade Tasks
