I'm building a cucm deployment that is a takeout of an old Avaya analog PBX and we're trying to replicate some of the old analog "features". The current system has sidetone on the handset and the end user is asking if it's possible to do with the new Cisco platform. I can't seem to find any sidetone settings on the 7861 other than ones that are specific to a headset.
Is there a way to enable sidetone on the regular handset for Cisco IP phones?

Sidetone is only adjustable for headsets on Cisco phones. Sorry.

Are there any software upgrades that would help the 8851NR use side-tone with handset? Using a Telephone handset audio tap to help record phone calls. Our system needs side tone to get both sides of the conversation.
