For clarification, is it the base unit that you are seeking to be wireless-capable OR if we were, say, to offer wireless extension microphones for greater flexibility and reduced cable management for larger conference rooms, that would address your need? Or you are seeking both?

If you can share a bit more background on your environment and how you would see this phone addressing your need that would be helpful info.

I have also had customers ask if there is a Cisco conference phone with a wireless rechargable base unit and a charging station.

In addition if you are asking for a wireless phone you have 7921/25 that has a charging station. If you are asking from a conference phone perspective then Polycom makes one soundstation 2W

Thank you for the response.

Our customer has beautiful granite conference tables they've had for over 20 years. They have chosen not to use the standard Cisco IP 7937 conference phones with the granite tables. They are afraid boring a hole through the granite for the cabling may destroy their table tops. They also do not with to drape the ethernet cable across the room and across the top of the table.

They currently use a 3rd party analog conference phone. The 3rd party phone has a charging/base station with an analog port that sits in the corner of the conference room. The phone is removed from the charging station and placed on the center of the granite table during conference calls. The phone communicates via RF to the charging/base station and the base station has an analog port connected to our Cisco FXS port.

I would think this type of solution would be helpful in other situations where cabling is a challenge.

Please let me know I can further clarify.

Hi,

I think you are using something like the 'Polycom SoundStation2W DECT 6.0 Wireless Conference Phone' this is pretty much the same as the one you are describing:

Now, the Cisco conference phones are from Polycom, these are not Cisco manufactured, and Polycom has not come with an IP-based Wireless conference station, this is why you do not see a Wireless Cisco conference station, now the 7937G supports a wireless Mic kit that might work for you.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that this is on the Polycom's roadmap.

How about looking at a 9971 phone? You can have it work wireless and ut has GPIO ports that you can pipe into a professional sound system. One of our clients is doing that in his board room?

Was thinking about that too. Since your client adopted this solution for their board room, any idea the dimensions of their board room? Just wondering about mic pickup for participants in a larger conf. room environment, which is what caused me pause from tossing that out as an idea to Joshua. And what sounds system did they connect into the mic and speaker ports?

I have an email into the customer and he will get back to me. He is still thinking about piping the audio but he is happy that at least the phone does have the option. On a side note regarding the commercial we have been playing with both Pt to Pt and MP video with MP 8 EMS server and it has been working well for the past 4 months or so. We also did some video tests with it over VPN and the quality was good. It would be nice however to expose real time video statistics on the phone of BW consumed. Currently it doesn't do that right now like most video end points.

How about Transformers movie?  bad part was it was when they were in the operations room and all lines went dead and he said "you mean I cannot pick up this phone and call my wife" Cisco 79xx handset.  :-P

I always notice when Cisco phones are being used in TV programs but then I am always looking out for them.  Not sure how effective it is in terms of marketing but I would definatley recommend pushing the Telepresence solution through this medium.  It would help build awareness of the solution with our seniro management.

I totally agree, except I have one suggestion that would be to be careful with how you create the rooms as during our implemntation of our TP rooms we fielded question like, "well I have seen on TV where they had windows in the room"  lol..  :-P
