The 8831 does not support a 3rd party microphone and Cisco does not make a lapel microphone. Customers usually register buy a third party SIP device that supports a lapel microphone.

The 7937 has an option
7937 supports lapel MIC kit. I had exchanged emails with the BU and here is what they had to say
Here is what's available and tested from Polycom...

Also, here are some comments (below) from Polycom on the use of non-Polycom wireless mics;
Based on email traffic, you’ve had quite a few requests for information about wireless mics. As I mentioned, we only tested with the Polycom wireless lapel mic (available in NA through standard channels such as Ingram, Tech Data or local resellers to include DMRs like CDW) and the AudioTechnica. The Audio Technica did not test well and we are not recommending it.
In general, however, I did get some feedback from our audio engineers. This should help you out.
The VTX1000/SoundStation2 support an external microphone via the AUX IN jack, when the device menu is set up appropriately. The 7937 supports this same function via its 2.5mm connector. This external mic can be wired or wireless, the only constraint is that this needs to be a “line level" signal.
