How do I size data circuits to prepare them for CUCM deployment?

We've deployed CUCM at out main facilities and are preparing to deploy to a variety of smaller, remote sites ranging in size from 5 to 200 phones. I need to know a way to size the data circuits to be able to support the added voice traffic. We do not have QOS configured, and probably will not prior to deployment. I realized that traffic, whether the site is a heavy CCX environment will have an impact, but I really need a "rule of thumb" "10 phones= 5 meg, 100 phones = 10 meg, etc...   Does anyone have a formula?

Thank you.

HI Jim,

When making calls from site to site, we always suggest that the G729 codec be used. You can allocate the BW according to :

Jim,

Depends you technology like MPLS for example. But as a rule of thumb, use 24k/channel for G729 and 80k/channel for G711.

There's no thumb rule, you need to do some math based on number of calls and kind of technology you'll be using, protocol, codec, etc

Bear in mind you also need to configure CAC in CUCM and QoS to make sure RTP/signaling gets the right priority.
