How provide preference of Translation pattern over an extension.

On CUCM version 11.5 the internal numbers use 4 digits ( XXXX) and they belong to partition "PTinternal". We need calls transferred from UNITY Auto Attendant to range from 7701 to 7799 go directly to their voice mail (without ringing) ONLY from 9:30a to 4:30p. Voice mail ports have CSS “Voicemail”. I created a Translation pattern 77[1-9]X on a ToD partition "PTgotoVM" (selecting "Urgent Priority" option) to send numbers from 7701 to 7799 to voice mail (without ringing). I added partition "PTgotoVM " on CSS “Voicemail” ABOVE partition "PTinternal". When I test this Translation pattern, it is not working. The calls instead of going to voicemail they ring on affected numbers from 7701 to 7769.

If I change TP to from 77[1-9]X to a specific number (like 7748) this ToD TP Works !! so my TP 7748 is having preference over internal number 7748.

How I can solve this problem using a TP 77[1-9]X?

The system is working as designed, the order of the partitions in the CSS is ONLY used when two or more EQUALLY GOOD matches exist.

7748 is the best match as it only matches one entry, 77[1-9]X matches 90 options.

When you configure the TP with 7748, only then, you have two equally good matches and that's why the order of the partitions makes a difference.

As usual, thanks for support!

If 7701 to 7769 is a sequence, I would consider creating the DN in the TOD partition instead of using TP.

As Java correctly pointed out CM will only use the order of Partitions in a Calling Search Space when there is two, or more, identical matches. As you seen the translation that your trying to use isn’t an equal match to the Directory Number and as such it would never be considered.

What you could do is to put the timer with ToD routing configuration construct on the Directory Numbers partition so that they are only “visible” during the time when calls should not go to voicemail. That way you should be able to have the call hit your translation pattern and go to voicemail when the DNs are not visible for the call routing process. For this you’d need to move these DNs into a specific partition and put a time schedule on that partition. Then put your translation pattern into a partition that is always visible, for example in PTinternal.
