How to replace a user's phone?

Level 1

I have a user with an IP 7942 that is always saying "registering".  We've already changed out the cable and it persists even after a reset on the phone.

I have a spare phone that I was to assign this user.

Is it really as simple as changing the MAC address on the PHONE CONFIGURATION page and saving and applying the config, then have the user plug in the new phone?  Or is there more to it or a different method required?

Sorry, I'm new to CUCM/CallManager and learning as I go.  I tried to find a "moves/adds/changes" cheat sheet somewhere...

Hi Chris,

You can certainly do it the way you listed by changing the MAC

save/apply. or another nice way is super copy

Cheers!

Hi,

Yes, you only need to change the MAC address, save and the phone should register. If the other phone is not working you can try a factory reset:
