For an inter cluster non gatekeeper controlled trunk to work between two separate call managers, do the call managers have to be on the same version software release? We have one cluster on 8.5.1 and the other cluster on version 10.
I looked around cisco's website and wasn't able to find anything that states this one way or the other.
Please let me know if you do.
Thank you.

Vicky,
You should be able to run inter cluster trunk (non gatekeeper controlled) between versions of CUCM/
Look at this SRND
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/8x/uc8x/trunks.html
Have a google for SRND 10 to get that documents info

CUCM version does not matter for ICT to function.

I would personally recommend to go for a SIP trunk instead of ICT. You can always create a SIP/ICT trunk between two different versions of CM.

You *can* but it's actually NOT always recommended to have a SIP trunk, the SRND discusses this.
It's actually ONLY recommended when ALL clusters involved are 8.5 or later, it's NOT recommended for versions below 8.5 to use SIP trunks.
