IP Phone Menu Timeout?

Sean McQuade

Hi all, is this something that's configurable? For example when someone goes into a menu, or missed calls directory etc, they have to press the button to exit it. Is there a way to make this automatically time out? We had a customer upgrade from CUCM 6.x to 7.x and said that on version 6, the menu would automatically timeout after a few seconds of inactivity but no longer does this on v7.

Thanks

Sean

Hi Sean,

I don't know for version 6.X but for version 7/8/9.X is not posible until now.

Leo, when you say it is not possible until now, do you mean to say that it is available in certain new version?

I am not aware of this being available on any CUCM version inclduign currently shipping releases.  If I am incorrect can you let us know what parameter controls this?

Chris

Chris, I believe Leo is also trying to tell it's not possible. And that's my understanding as well.

I couldn't find any enhancement request on this as I was doing a quick sanity check.

Not sure if it might be possible using the idle url???

any solutions? i have cucm 11.0.1. same problem

Haven't seen any enhancement to alter this behavior yet. If you want such a feature you may engage your Cisco Account Manager and he can use the right channels to see if this can be incorporated in the future.

What is odd to me is that this would in any way be connected to the version of CUCM. I would think it is more of a function of the phone firmware version than anything else. Granted, there is a correllation between the phone firmware one is running and the CUCM version. But I think it is erroneous to associate the way a phone handles XML with the version of CUCM.

Just a thought.

That said, I have never seen a phone firmware version that would "time out" a CiscoIPPhoneMenu XML element.

Hi William,

The firmware did indeed upgrade with the CUCM upgrade. I myself have never experienced the "timeout" as most of my use has been with 8.x and above, apart from upgrades. However, the customer, who used the system on a daily basis, assures me the menus did timeout and no longer do. This isn't a big issue, but hoped it had been something which was easily configurable somewhere.

Thanks

Sean
