Local Route Group

Hi All - Need few clarifications on Normal Route Pattern and Local Route Group

Normal Route Pattern

Let say we have centralized cluster with Site-A and Site-B.

For Side A trying to make o/b call with below scenario

Ip phone (Side A_CSS with Side A_PT) ---> R.P 9XXXXXXX (Side A_PT) ---> RL_Side A ---> RG_Side A ----> Side A_GW (1st Priority) and

RG_Side B ----> Side B_GW (2nd Priority)

Scenario -2

Side A_GW has been down suddenly, in this case call has to route via Side B_GW but it is located on different county where it has to add few no's as prefix to dial out through PSTN.

In this case we can do Prefix/Mask either in R.Pattern Level or in R.List Level.

R.Pattern level apply to all the calls which route through the Route List.

But in this case it's better to implement in Route List in that particular Route Group so that calls will sucessfully route through Side B_GW

Local Route Group

Ip phone (Side A_CSS with Side A_PT) ---> R.P 9XXXXXXX (Side A_PT) ---> RL_Side A ---> Local Route Group --> Side A_Device Pool --> Side A_RG ---> Side A_GW

Scenario 1:

Suddenly Side A_GW has been down, inthis case it has to route via Side B_GW we can add Side B_GW in Side A_RG but need to add digits to dial out since Side B_GW in different county.

We can't apply Prefix/Mask in R.Pattern or Local Route Group in that Route List because it is common for both sides.

Scenario 2:

To avoid this we can add additional Route Group and map it to Route List but again Route Group will have group of devices and each side will use the Route Group as alternate path so it's not good design to apply mask/prefix in Route roup which is in the Route List.

Please let me know the better way to achieve Mask/Prefix in Local Route Group where R.Pattern is common for all locations.

Note: I dont want to do change number in VG level, everything has to be done in CUCM Level.

The best option is to have two devices in your route list..one is the Local route group and the second your backup route group...

Then perform your digit manipulation on the backup route goup for this Route List...Thats the most effective way.

We can do the same in backup route goup of Route List but again the R.Pattern is common for all locations.

Lets says for all location Local Route Group device has down and Phone trying to make o/b call in this case it will try backup route group but digit manipulation is not common for all locations.

How can we perfom this?

That is not very straight forward. The only way I can think of is that you have to use prefixes to distinguish between your Route patterns..

eg SITE A..RP==9.141XXXXX (assume site A needs 141 as its prefix)

Then you can strip off the prefix on the route group for normal calls and for backup calls prefix 141 back

You will then need to do this for different sites..Sp its not very straighforwad..

You can read more about route group and TEHO here
